Tokyo Metropolitan Area University Baseball League

...6 players on Tokyo Keizai University were diagnosed with the swine flu and a 2-games series against the University of Tokyo (9/12-13) has been canceled.

Tokyo Keizai University submitted a notice to league officials that they were shutting down their operations for a period of 7 days, starting on 9/8.  This marks the first time that a college baseball game was canceled due to the swine flu.

Due to an already busy baseball schedule (TKU is in the second league of the TMAUBL that includes 8 other teams), the games will most likely not be made-up.

====== Update 9/12/2009 @ 8:43pm

...4 of the 6 players with the swine flu are starting players.

It seems only the game on the 12th has been officially canceled, although the game on the 13th will likely be canceled as well since Tokyo Keizai has shut down all baseball activities until the 14th.

The League will also hold a meeting sometime in the near future to discuss what should happen with the canceled games.

Tohto University Baseball League

...Nao Higashihama suffered one of league's shortest outings of the season on 9/7 against Rissho University.

Asia University dropped the game, 6-2.

Higashihama's Final Line
5.1 IP, 23 BF, 83 NP, 5 H, 1 BB/HBP, 6 K, 4 ER (maxed out at 146km/h)

Higashihama blames his bout with the swine flu in early August for not allowing to prepare as much as he would have liked to.

Tokyo Big 6

...Hosei University 4th year pitcher, Hisashi Takeuchi, is making a comeback from a right shoulder injury that kept him from pitching during the Spring League.  He tops out at 154km/h and will likely get some looks from various ball clubs.

Mariners scout Yasushi Yamamoto was seen watching him at a practice session on the 11th.
