Hanshin Tigers

...Kodai Sakurai joined up with the Ichi-gun roster today but has not yet been added to the active roster.  The Tigers want another day to see how he's doing before they activate him.

...Norihiro Akahoshi hurt his neck while trying to make a diving catch on a ball hit by Seiichi Uchikawa in the top of the 3rd. He was carried (piggyback) off the field and taken to the hospital for testing.

Akahoshi was removed from the active roster in July with pain in his neck.

Hiroshima Carp

...Mazda Stadium suffered it's first ever rain-out on Saturday.

Rakuten Eagles

...For the first time in team history, the Eagles have a magic number (19) for clinching a spot in the Climax Series.

...Takeshi Yamasaki has now hit the most home runs (35) for a player over 40 after hitting two against the Softbank Hawks on Saturday.  The previous high was 33, set by Hiromitsu Kadota in 1989.

Softbank Hawks

...Tadashi Settsu tied Yoshiaki Fujioka (set in 2006) for the Pacific League record for most appearances by a rookie in a season with 62.  He is also just 9 games away from breaking the NPB record for appearances in a season.

Yakult Swallows

...For the first time in team history (going back to 1950), the Swallows have lost 12 consecutive series.

Yokohama Bay Stars

...Seiichi Uchikawa is 5-for-8 since returning to the parent club on 9/11.

Yomiuri Giants

...The Giants have clinched a spot for the Climax Series.  Even if they were to lose every game left on the schedule, the worst they could do is finish in third.
