A ball hit by Seibu Lions Taketoshi Goto in the 7th inning hit Fernandez in the face while he attempted to make a defensive play on the field. He was immediately removed from the game and taken to a hospital where he was diagnosed with a fractured left cheek bone.

...A Bay Stars rep announced that club president Kuniaki Sasaki will likely be stepping down before the end of the year. The club rep said that Sasaki was taking responsibility for the team's poor performance over the past 2 seasons and wants the team to find new leadership that will help them turn things around.
Two other members of the front office that arrived from Nissan in 2006 will also likely step down.
...Toshihisa Nishi sprained his right ankle and will be making a trip to the hospital to get it checked out. According to the Bay Stars' chief trainer, Nishi sprained his ankle during a game on the 11th and the swelling got worse on the 12th.
