Hanshin Tigers

...The Tigers removed Norihiro Akahoshi from the active roster due to his current back condition (it's apparently gotten worse). Akahoshi will be sent home to rest his back.

Orix Buffaloes

...Jose Fernandez left Sunday's game after he took a ball off his face while trying to make a defensive play on the field.

A ball hit by Seibu Lions Taketoshi Goto in the 7th inning hit Fernandez in the face while he attempted to make a defensive play on the field.  He was immediately removed from the game and taken to a hospital where he was diagnosed with a fractured left cheek bone.

Rakuten Eagles

...That was quick: with the Eagles loss and Seibu Lions win on Sunday, the magic number the Eagles managed to get on Saturday, disappeared.

Seibu Lions

...In 4 games since returning from a left leg injury, Takeya Nakamura is 5-for-14 with 3 home runs, 3 runs scored, and 4 RBI.  He has also struck out 5 times and walked twice.

Softbank Hawks

...The Hawks announced that they surpassed the 2M mark in attendance on Sunday.  Including the 32,367 fans in attendance on Sunday, the Hawks have drawn 2,014,752 over 65 games.

...Tadashi Settsu got the day off on Sunday after coming down with a fever.  According to the Hawks, Settsu wasn't feeling well from the morning and was sent to a hospital for tests.

Yokohama Bay Stars

...A Bay Stars rep announced that club president Kuniaki Sasaki will likely be stepping down before the end of the year.  The club rep said that Sasaki was taking responsibility for the team's poor performance over the past 2 seasons and wants the team to find new leadership that will help them turn things around.

Two other members of the front office that arrived from Nissan in 2006 will also likely step down.

...Toshihisa Nishi sprained his right ankle and will be making a trip to the hospital to get it checked out.  According to the Bay Stars' chief trainer, Nishi sprained his ankle during a game on the 11th and the swelling got worse on the 12th.
