The Bay Stars got another solid start out of the Stephen Randolph as they beat the Dragons, 5-2.

Yokohama took a 1-0 lead in the top of the 1st on an RBI single by Seiichi Uchikawa (1-for-3, 2 BB, 2 RBI) with a runner on second and 1 out.  The Dragons tied it at 1 in the bottom of the 2nd when Tony Blanco (1-for-2, 2 BB, R) came around to score on a Masaaki Koike (0-for-3) GIDP.

In the top of the 3rd, the Bay Stars retook the lead on an RBI single by Noriharu Yamazaki (2-for-4, RBI) with a runner on third and 2 out.  They extended their lead by 3 runs in the top of the 4th: Takahiro Saeki (1-for-4, HR, R, RBI) led off with his 10th home run of the year; with the bases loaded and 1 out, Tatsuhiko Kinjo (3-for-5, R, RBI) drove in a run with a single into left and one out later, with the bases still loaded, Uchikawa drove in his second run of the game with a walk.

The Dragons scored their second and final run of the game in the 8th (after Randolph left the game) on an RBI single by Kazuhiro Wada (2-for-4, RBI) with runners on first and second and 1 out.

Shun Yamaguchi entered the game in the bottom of the 9th and put runners on first and second before ending the game by getting Masahiko Morino (0-for-2, 3 BB, R) to fly out to left.

While Randolph did limit the Dragons to just 1 run on 3 hits over 7 innings of work, he also continues to struggle with his walk totals (he walked 5 in 7 innings and he has now walked 27 batters over 40 innings of work).  Randolph had three 1-2-3 innings.

The Carp hung on to beat the Tigers, 5-4.

An RBI double by Tetsuya Kokubo (3-for-4, 2B, 2 RBI) with a runner on first and 1 out in the top of the 2nd gave the Carp a 1-0 lead.  The Tigers turned the tables in the bottom of the second on a lead-off solo homer by Tomoaki Kanemoto (1-for-4, HR, R, RBI) and an RBI single by Keisuke Kano (1-for-3, RBI) with runners on second and third and 1 out.

But the Carp quickly retook the lead in the top of the 3rd: Akihiro Higashide (2-for-4, BB, R) led off with a single and advanced to second on a sac bunt; Andy Phillips (0-for-3, BB, R) walked; Kenta Kurihara (0-for-4) struck out; Jun Hirose (0-for-3, BB, R) walked to load the bases; a wild pitch by Atsushi Noumi allowed the tying run to score, runners on second and third; Soichiro Amaya (2-for-4, 3B, 2 R, 2 RBI) cleared the bases with a triple and gave the Carp a 4-2 lead; and Kokubo drove in Hiroshima's 5th run with single into left.

The Tigers made it 5-4 in the bottom of the 6th on a 2-run home run by Kentaro Sekimoto (2-for-4, HR, 2 R, 2 RBI).

Katsuhiro Nagakawa struck out the side in the bottom of the 9th for his 32nd save of the year.

On a night Masahiro Tanaka wasn't very effective, the offense provided the boost to help the Eagles beat the Marines, 9-5.

A 2-run double by Masato Nakamura (1-for-4, 2B, 2 RBI) in the bottom of the 2nd with runners on second and third and 1 out gave the Eagles a 2-0 lead.  But the Marines tied it in the top of the 3rd on a 2-out RBI double by Daisuke Hayakawa (2-for-5, 2B, 2 R, RBI) and a walk later, with runners on first and second, another 2-out RBI double, this time by Shoitsu Ohmatsu (2-for-4, BB, 2B, RBI).

But the Eagles quickly retook the lead in the bottom of the 3rd on two home runs: a lead-off homer by Takeshi Yamasaki (4-for-5, 2B, HR, R, 2 RBI) and a 2-run homer by Todd Linden (2-for-4, BB, 2B, HR, 2 R, 3 RBI) with 2 outs.

RBI singles by Yamasaki in the 4th, with runners on first and third and 1 out, and Naoto Watanabe (3-for-5, R, RBI) in the 5th, with a runner on second and 2 out, gave the Eagles a 7-2 lead.  And three consecutive hits in the bottom of the 6th with 2 outs gave Rakuten a 7-run lead: Yosuke Takasu (2-for-3, BB, R) hit a single into left; Daisuke Kusano (2-for-5, 2B, 2 R, RBI) drove in Takasu with a double into right; and Linden drove in Kusano with a double into center.

The Marines made it 9-4 in the top of the 7th on a 2-run homer by Kazuya Fukuura (1-for-4, BB, HR, R, 2 RBI).  And a solo homer by Hisao Heiuchi (2-for-4, HR, R, RBI) in the in the top of the 8th with 1 out gave the Marines their 5th and final run of the game.

Kazuyuki Hoashi tossed a complete game shut-out and beat the Hawks, 6-0.

Hoashi scattered just 4 hits over 9 innings of work and really only struggled in the first when he gave up back-to-back 2-out singles to put runners on first and second and threw wild pitch that advanced both runners up a base to second and third.  But he still managed to get out of the inning by getting Hitoshi Tamura (1-for-3) to ground out to first.  Hoashi also had six 1-2-3 innings and once retired 12 straight batters between the 4th and 8th innings.

On offense, the Lions did most of their scoring in the bottom of the 4th: Takumi Kuriyama (1-for-4, 2B, RBI) grounded out to short; Hiroyuki Nakajima (1-for-4, R) singled into left; Takeya Nakamura (1-for-3, BB, R) singled into center, runners on first and second; Yoshihito Ishii (3-for-4, 2B, R, RBI) drove in a run with a double into center, runners on second and third; G.G. The Buffaloes managed to tie the game twice against the Fighters but ended up losing the game in extra innings, 7-6.

The Fighters took a 2-0 lead in the top of the 2nd on an RBI double by Yoshio Itoi (2-for-5, 2B, 2 R, RBI) with a runner on second and 1 out; and an RBI single by Shinya Tsuruoka (2-for-5, RBI) that scored Itoi from third with 2 outs.  The Buffaloes tied the game in the bottom of the 4th on Tuffy Rhodes' (1-for-4, BB, HR, R, 2 RBI) 22nd home run of the year following a lead-off walk to Hirotoshi Kitagawa (2-for-4, BB, HR, 2 R, 3 RBI).

In the top of the 7th, the Fighters made it 6-2 on an RBI single by Kensuke Tanaka (2-for-5, R, RBI) with runners on first and third and 1 out, followed 1 out later, with runners on first and second, by Atsunori Inaba's 16th home run of the year (2-for-5, 2B, HR, R, 3 RBI).

A 3-run homer by Kitagawa in the bottom of the 7th, with runners on first and third and 1 out, and a sac fly by Koji Yamasaki (2-for-4, R, RBI) in the bottom of the 8th, with runners on first and third and 1 out, retied the game for the Buffaloes.

With the game still tied at 6 after 9 innings, the game went into extra inning.  Neither club did much of anything in the 10th, save for a 2-out single by Mitsutaka Goto (2-for-5, R).  The Fighters scored the decisive blow in the top of the 11th when Terrmel Sledge (1-for-5, HR, R, RBI) led off the inning with his 22nd home run of the year.

Hisashi Takeda, working in his second inning, gave up another 2-out single in the bottom of the 11th but retired the next batter on a ground out to first to end the game.
