The Swallows continued their struggles against the Giants this season and lost 8-2.
Hisanori Takahashi tossed a complete game victory and picked up his 8th win of the season. He held the Swallows hitless over the first 4 innings of the game (retired 11 straight to start the game) and didn't allow a run until the 6th when he gave up 2 doubles and a single for 2 runs: Kazuki Fukuchi (1-for-4, 2B, R) led off the inning with a double and stole third; Hiroyasu Tanaka (1-for-4, 2B, R, RBI) followed with another double that finally put the Swallows on the board; Norichika Aoki (0-for-3, BB) grounded out; and Jamie D'Antona (1-for-3, RBI) drove in the second run of the inning on an infield single.
The Giants took advantage of a 5-run 3rd inning to set the tone for the rest of the game: Hisanori Takahashi (1-for-4) led off with a single; Hayato Sakamoto (2-for-5, HR, 2 R, RBI) reached on a throwing error by Yoshinori Sato (P), runners on first and second; Tetsuya Sakamoto's (1-for-6, R) sac bunt failed, runners on first and second; Michihiro Ogasawara (2-for-4, HR, 2 R, 2 RBI) drove in a run with a single into center, runners on first and third; a wild pitch gave the Giants a 2-0 lead, runner on second; Alex Ramirez (1-for-4, R, RBI) singled into center and made it 3-0; Yoshiyuki Kamei (1-for-1, BB) hit a single into center, runners on first and second; pinch runner Shigeyuki Furuki (1-for-2, HBP, 2 R) in for Kamei; Yoshitomo Tani (2-for-4) flied out; Shinnosuke Abe (0-for-2, 3 BB) walked to load the bases; Ryota Wakiya (2-for-5, 2B, 3 RBI) drove in two runs with a 2-out double into right with runners on second and third; and Takahashi grounded out to end the inning.
Single runs in the 4th, 5th, and 8th innings gave the Giants their 8-2 lead:

5th inning: RBI single by Wakiya with runners on first and second and 1 out.

The Bay Stars played catch-up and beat the Dragons, 4-3.
An RBI single by Ryosuke Hirata (2-for-4, RBI) with runners on first and second gave the Dragons a 1-0 lead. A successful pick-off and a walk later, with runners on first and second, Kenichi Tanaka (1-for-2, 2B, 2 RBI) cleared the bases with a double into left and made it 3-0.
The Bay Stars returned 2 runs in the top of the 5th with some help from the Dragons: with the bases loaded and 2 out, Tatsuhiko Kinjo (3-for-5, 2 2B, 2 RBI) walked with the bases loaded for the first run of the inning; and a wild pitch allowed the second run of the inning to score.
In the top of the 7th, the Bay Stars tied the game at 3 on an RBI double by Kinjo with a runner on first and 1 out. Kazuya Fujita (2-for-5, R) followed with a single into left and advanced to second when Kinjo was thrown out at home. Yoshihiro Suzuki relieved Tanaka and got Seiichi Uchikawa (0-for-4, IBB) to hit a grounder to Masahiko Morino (3B). But a bad throw by Morino meant Uchikawa was safe and advanced to second; and another run was able to cross the plate to give the Bay Stars a 4-3 lead.

The Lions scored 6 runs off Toshiya Sugiuchi and beat the Hawks, 8-1.
Kazuhisa Ishii had some trouble with his control and walked 5 batters over 7 innings of work (3 of the walks came in the first 2 innings). While his start wasn't pretty, he still managed to hold the Hawks to just 1 run: a lead-off solo home by Nobuhiro Matsuda (1-for-4, HR, R, RBI) in the top of the third that tied the game at 1. The bullpen also did its job by tossing 2 scoreless innings of 1-hit ball.
While the Lions' offense did manage to score a run off Sugiuchi in the second inning on an RBI single by Takuya Hara (1-for-4, RBI) with runners on first and third and 2 out (the runner on first reached on a fielding error by third baseman Matsuda), it wasn't until the bottom of the 6th that things really started rolling along.
Takeya Nakamura's (1-for-3, BB, HR, 2 R, RBI) 40th home run of the year gave the Lions a 2-1 lead. A strike out, a walk, and a single later, with runners on first and third, Ginjiro (1-for-4, RBI) drove in another run with an infield single; the runner on first was thrown out trying to get to third.
In the bottom of the 5th, the Lions scored 5 more runs: with a runner on third and 2 out, Hiroyuki Nakajima (1-for-4, R, RBI) gave the Lions a 4-1 lead with a single into left; a walk later, with runners on first and second, Sugiuchi's night was over and Akio Mizuta entered the game. But he didn't really do much better as he walked pinch hitter Yoshihito Ishii, gave up an RBI single to G.G. Sato (1-for-3, BB, 2 R, RBI), a 2-run single to Tomoaki Sato (1-for-3, R), and a wild pitch that gave the Lions a 8-1 lead.

An ineffective Yu Darvish lasted only 5 innings as the Bufaloes managed to beat the Fighters, 7-2.
Darvish had trouble finding the zone and looked frustrated on the mound as he walk 7 Buffaloes over 5 innings of work. Amazingly, he still managed to hold the Buffaloes to just 2 runs:
2nd inning: Takeshi Hidaka (1-for-3, R) led off the inning with a single and advanced to second on a sac bunt. Darvish recorded the second out of the inning by getting Koji Yamasaki (1-for-3, HR, R, 3 RBI) to hit a grounder back to the mound, but then walked three consecutive batters to force home a run.
4th inning: Shinji Shimoyama (0-for-1, IBB, BB, 2 R) walked to open the inning and advanced to second on a sac bunt and moved up to third on a ground out. Shimoyama then came around to score on a single into right by Tomotaka Sakaguchi (1-for-2, 2 BB, R, RBI).
Meanwhile, the Fighters' offense was racking up base runners (8 hits and 3 walks over the first 7 innings of the game) but could only manage to score 2 runs:
4th inning: Shinji Takahashi (1-for-4, 2B, R) led off with a double, advanced to third on a fly ball to right, and came around to score on Eiichi Koyano's (2-for-3, BB, R, RBI) single into center.
7th inning: Koyano started the inning off with a single into center and advanced to second on a sac bunt. An out later, pinch hitter Naoto Inada (1-for-1, 2B, RBI) hit a double to tie the game at 2.
With the score still tied at two in the 8th, the Buffaloes struck: with runners on first and second and 2 out, Yamasaki hit his 3rd home run of the year to give the Buffaloes a 5-2 lead; two walks later, with runners on first and second and 2 out, Masahiro Abe (1-for-3, 2 BB, 2B, R, RBI) cleared the bases with a double into center.
