Hanshin Tigers

...It seems Ryo Asai suffered a hamstring injury and is having a tough time even walking right now.

Hiroshima Carp

...With their loss against the Giants on Saturday, the 59-71-4 Carp are guaranteed a record under 500 with only 10 games remaining.

The Carp also lost their 4,000th game in club history.

Nippon Ham Fighters

...The Fighters' Magic Number is now 7.

...Ryan Wing's surgery on his left shoulder went down without a hitch on the 22nd (23rd in Japan).

...Tomohiro Nioka felt pain in his right calf while running the bases on Friday in the 2nd inning and was removed from the game in the bottom of the inning (he was the starting third baseman).  He was not in the starting line-up on Saturday.  He did make an appearance as a pinch hitter in the 9th to dive in the key, game-tying run.

Seibu Lions

...Hiroyuki Nakajima was hit in the head with a pick-off throw during Friday's game against the Rakuten Eagles.  He stayed in the game and was later taken to the hospital for a CT scan.  He was in the starting line-up on Saturday and went 1-for-5.

Yomiuri Giants

...Marc Kroon was removed from the active roster on Friday with a tired right elbow.  Kroon hopes to use the 10 days off to relax and rest up for the Climax Series.


...Submissions for the 2009 Amateur Draft ended on Friday.  There were a total 15,795 entrants for 1,000 available spots.
