Kansai Independent League

...The Osaka Gold Villicanes became the second half champions on Sunday.  In order to become champions, they needed to beat the Kishi Rangers (which they did, 8-6) and the Kobe 9 Cruise needed to beat the Akashi Red Soldiers (which they did, 9-4).

The Gold Villicanes were also the first half champions.

Shikoku - Kyushu Island League

...The Kochi Fighting Dogs beat the Nagasaki Saints on Sunday for the second day in a row and are now just 1 victory away from taking the IL Championship (it's a best of 5 series).

Kochi beat Nagasaki 8-4 on Sunday and 5-1 on Saturday.

Baseball Challenge League

...The Gunma Diamond Pegasus took the Joshin-etsu Championship by beating the Niigata Albirex BC 7-1 on Sunday.  Gunma needed only 1 win since the Niigata was required to sweep the 3-game series in order to advance

As a refresher: according to the rules, if both the first and second half champions are the same team, which ever team finished in second over the course of the season advances to the regionals.  In this case, the second place team must sweep the regional series in order to advance.

Over in the Hokuriku Championships, the Toyama Thunderbirds (in the same boat as Niigata) have taken the first two games of the series and will need to win on Monday in order to advance.
