Orix Buffaloes

...As mentioned earlier, Akinobu Okada appears to be the most likely candidate to take over the for the Buffaloes next season.

And with that, the rumors of Daijiro Oishi stepping away from the team at the end of the season have also begun to trickle through.  A team rep said that nothing has been decided yet, but it appears as though everything is heading in that direction.

This makes 8 managers since 2001.

...Yoshinori Matsuoka, club president, will be stepping away from the team at the end of the monthHiroaki Nishina, owner rep, will be taking over on 10/1.  He will take on both titles.

Softbank Hawks

...Justin Germano will be heading to the States to get his right ankle checked out.  He hurt the area on the 27th during practice on the 27th.

Yakult Swallows

...If Shinya Miyamoto loses any time because he hurt his right thumb while sliding head-first into first in the 4th inning during Monday's game against the Tigers, I'll flip.

Players have SERIOUSLY got to stop doing that.


...The Japan Baseball Organization announced on Monday that they will hold an umpire school on December 5th and 6th.  Pro and Amateur level umps will be teaching the classes over the two day period at the Lotte Urawa Baseball Grounds.

There are 150 openings.  The cost for the classes (including lodgings) is 25,000yen.  Interested parties should fax their information (name, address, contact number, age, past umpiring experience) to 03-3201-0707 or send it via e-mail baseball at jaba.org.jp.

...Sadaharu Oh, Shigeo Nagashima, and some 700 other people attended Shozo Doi's wake on Monday night.
