The Eagles beat the Hawks, 5-4, to take over second place in the Pacific League.

An RBI double by Todd Linden (2-for-4, 2 2B, 3 RBI) with a runner on second and no out gave the Eagles a 1-0 lead.  The Hawks tied it in the top of the 3rd on Hidenori Tanoue's (1-for-3, HR, R, RBI) 25th home run of the year.  But the Eagles quickly answered with a solo home run by Teppei (2-for-3, BB, HR, 2 R, RBI)  in the bottom of the third and 2 out.

In the top of the 5th, the Hawks took the lead:

Hitoshi Tamura (0-for-3, BB, R) walked.  Yuya Hasegawa reached on an infield single, runners on first and second.  Tanoue struck out. Munenori Kawasaki (0-for-2, HBP, R) was hit by a pitch, bases loaded.  Nobuhiro Matsuda (1-for-4, RBI) tied the game with a single into left and Yuichi Honda (1-for-4, 2B, 2 RBI) drove in 2 runs with a double in left, runners on second and third.  Tsuyoshi Kawagishi relieved Hiromichi Fujiwara.  Jose Ortiz (1-for-4) flied out to center and the runner on third was caught trying to score from second.

But the Hawks' lead would be short-lived as the Eagles once again came back to retake the lead:

Masato Nakamura (1-for-4, BB, R) reached on an infield single.  Naoto Watanabe (0-for-4) struck out.  Teppei hit a single into left, runners on first and second. Takeshi Yamasaki (0-for-4) flied out to right. Daisuke Kusano (2-for-4, 2 R, RBI) drove in a runner with a single into center, runners on first and third; and Linden tied and scored the go ahead run with a double in to left.  And Fernando Seguignol (1-for-3, BB, 2B) struck out to end the inning.

Kazuo Fukumori entered the game in the 8th and tossed a 1-2-3 inning.  He wasn't quite as perfect in the 9th as he gave up a 1-out single to  Nobuhiko Matsunaka (3-for-4) .  Ryuma Kidokoro pinch ran for Matsunaka and got as far as third (stolen base and a wild pitch), but Fukmori bore down and retired the next two batters for his 9th save of the year.

Seibu Dome | Attendance: 25,207 | Time: 2h 44m | Marines lead series, 14-10-0

In a game that Takayuki Kishi was used in relief, the Lions managed used a walk-off to beat the pesky Marines, 2-1.

Shunsuke Watanabe was close to being on his way to a complete game shut-out when surrendered a hit to Hiroyuki Nakajima (1-for-3, BB, R) and a walk to Takeya Nakamura (0-for-3, BB) that put runners on first and second in the bottom of the 9th.  Shogo Akada pinch ran for Nakajima and the Lions sent Tomoaki Sato to pinch hit for Yoshihito Ishii.  Sato laid down a bunt and advanced both runners up a base to set the stage for G.G. Sato.

G.G. Sato was 0-for-2 with an HBP in his prior three trips to the plate.  He was also 0 for his last 14.  Perfect timing heroics as he hit a single into right off Watanabe that drove in both Nakajima and Akada to give the Lions a walk-off, 2-1 win.

On the other side of the diamond, Fumiya Nishiguchi made one bad pitch Tsuyoshi Nishioka (2-for-4, HR, R, RBI) to lead off the game and then held the Marines to 5 hits over 6.1 innings of work.  Kishi entered the game in the 7th with runners on first and third and 1 out and gave up just 1 hit and a walk over the final 2.2 innings of the game.
