Chiba Lotte Marines

...33-year-old outfielder Juan Muniz will likely be offered a contract extension for the 2010 season.

...Yuta Omine has been living out of a hotel after 13 Marines' players (I think mostly Ni-gun) tested positive for the flu virus.

Hanshin Tigers

...Tadatoki Maeda (INF) will not be returning to the team next season and Toru Fujiwara (INF) will be retiring at the end of the season.

...The Tigers appear to be moving along the path of buying out the remaining year on Jeff Williams' contract. But that doesn't mean the team isn't interested in Williams. If Williams is willing to take less money, the Tigers might be willing to bring him back next season.

...The Tigers will hold on to Makoto Imaoka for a little while longer as insurance in case a players goes down with an injury. The club still does not know whether or not Imaoka will retire at the end of the season.

Hiroshima Carp

...Yoshinori Ogata was presented followers by former Carp, and current Swallow, Kazuki Fukuchi after Friday night's game against the Yakult Swallows at Jingu Stadium.

Ogata was not in the starting line-up due to pain in his lower back.

Nippon Ham Fighters

...The Fighters essentially ruled out the chance of Yu Darvish making another start at Ichi-gun during the regular season.

Darvish is currently playing catch at about 60% strength and will likely make an appearance or two at the Phoenix League.

...Yoshio Mizukami (Ni-gun manager) and Yukio Arai (Ni-gun batting coach) will not be returning to the Fighters in 2010.

...The following three players will not be returning to the team in 2010:

Kaneko, Yohei OF
Hoshino, Yachiho P
Tsuda, Taiki P

...Shinichi Igarashi (chief advance scout) will likely be promoted to Ni-gun manager.

Orix Buffaloes

...Akinobu Okada said that he'd like to pare down the regular roster to 65 players since having anymore than that usually means players are getting too much rest.

It also appears as though the team is taking a look at So Taguchi.

Rakuten Eagles

...If the Eagles make it to the Climax Series, Masahiro Tanaka will likely start Game 2.

...Tanaka's next start will likely come on the 5th against the Orix Buffaloes at Kyocera Dome.

...The following three players will not be returning to the team next season:

Yoshizaki, Masaru (P)
Aikyo, Hisashi (P)
Yamazaki, Takahiro (OF)

None of the three had any playing time on the Ichi-gun roster this season.

Seibu Lions

...The Lions will not be extending contracts for the 2010 season to following players:

Mitsui, Koji (P) - may try for Majors again
Shotsu, Eiji (P) - retiring
Okamoto, Shinya (P) - still wants to pitch
Yamamoto, Ayumu (P) - undecided

Softbank Hawks

...The Hawks were originally planning to send their Ichi-gun players to the Phoenix League in order to stay sharp for the Climax Series, but those plans were abruptly changed after their game against the Rakuten Eagles last night was rained out and rescheduled for the 11th.

Yakult Swallows

...Hiroyasu Tanaka was taken out of the game on Friday night in the top of the 7th after feeling pain in his left calf while running the bases in the 6th inning. He is listed as day-to-day.

...The Swallows removed Yasushi Iihara from the active roster on Friday after he was diagnosed with a torn infraspinatus muscle near his right shoulder (右肩棘下筋の肉離れ).

Yokohama Bay Stars

...The Bay Stars won their 50th game last night.  That gives them 2 more wins than they had last year.
