...Shinji Takahashi suffered a minor sprain of his left ankle while running the bases in the top of the 5th. He was later removed from the line-up prior to the start of the 6th inning. The chief trainer didn't appear too concerned and said that Takahashi would be alright assuming he didn't experience any pain.
...Sho Nakata was taken off the active roster on Sunday to make room for some outfield help (Kazuya Murata).
The bruise on Yoshio Itoi's left knee has been slow to improve and the team wanted some OF insurance.
...The Fighters announced that they'll hold their press conference on the field if they win the Pacific League title at the Sapporo Dome (something that's usually not done). The team also plans to show the player party in the locker room on the big screen TV for the fans that want to stick around and watch.
...The Buffaloes will be inviting Hanshin Tigers' Ni-gun pitching coach Nobuyuki Hoshino to join the club as their new Ichi-gun pitchig coach for the 2010 season.
The team will likely hire current SK Wyverns Ichi-gun batting coach Kozo Shoda to work alongside current Buffaloes' Ichi-gun batting coach Eiji Mizuguchi. And Shinya Kobayashi will likely be named the head coach.
...Norihiro Nakamura is ready to be called up whenever the Eagles might need him.
...A pretty impressive season for Hideaki Wakui this year. He has 16 wins, 11 complete games, 199 strike outs, and has thrown 3,555 pitches over 27 games.
...Takayuki Shimizu announced on Sunday that he will be retiring after the season.
...G.G. Sato was taken off the active roster on Sunday as pain in both his knees worsened. Kazuhisa Ishii was taken off the active roster because of tightness in his right adductor muscle.
...With their 5-1 loss against the Yomiuri Giants on Sunday, the Swallows now have a 65-72-1 record with 6 games left to play. This means the Swallows will finish their 5th consecutive season with a losing record.
The last time the Swallows managed to finish the season with a winning record was back in 2004.
...Despite the team now being guaranteed a losing season, Swallows' ownership will likely allow Shigeru Takada to finish out his three year contract (he's currently in his second year).
Said Takada, "They gave me a 3-year contract to rebuild the team so I don't think they'll kick me out before that ends. If it's about this season, there's plenty of things I need I could have done differently. Just because the team is currently in this shape doesn't mean about to make up reasons just so that I can get away."
