The Bay Stars knocked the Carp out of the race for third by beating them 7-3.
With Seiichi Uchikawa (2-for-4, R, RBI) on first and Noriharu Yamazaki (1-for-3, R) on second and 1 out, Shuichi Murata (2-for-4, HR, 2 R, 3 RBI) hit a single into center that drove in Yamazaki from second; Uchikawa was thrown out trying to advance to third. The next batter, Yuki Yoshimura (3-for-4, 2B, HR, R, 2 RBI) then hit his 16th home run of the year to give the Bay Stars a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first.
In the top of the 4th, the Carp returned a run on three consecutive hits with 2 outs: Soichiro Amaya (1-for-3, BB, R) hit a single into right; Kenta Kurihara (1-for-4 (2-f) hit a single into right, runners on first and third; and Andy Phillips (2-for-3, BB, R, RBI) drove in a run with a single into center, runners on first and third. The Bay Stars tacked on another run in the bottom of the 6th when Kazuya Fujita (2-for-4, 3B, R) hit a 2-out triple and came around to score Shingo Takeyama's (3-for-4, RBI) infield single; a throwing error then allowed Takeyama to advance to second on the same play. Things could have been worse if Yoshimura wasn't caught trying to steal home during Fujita's at bat, after he led off the inning with a double and advanced to third on a sac bunt.
An RBI single by Uchikawa with a runner on second and 1 out in the bottom of the 7th, followed by Murata's 25th home run of the year, gave the Bay Stars a 7-1 lead.
Hiroshima made some noise in the top of the 9th when with 2 outs, Phillips walked and McClain hit his 17th home run of the year to cut the Bay Star's lead to 4. But that would be it for the Carp as Takuro Ishii (0-for-4) grounded out to first to end the game.
