Around the NPB Horn: Tuffy leaves for US, Orix wants him back for 2010 season

Monday's game against the Yakult Swallows was postponed due to rain.  The make-up game will likely be played on or after the 12th.


Nippon Ham Fighters

...Yu Darvish threw off a mound for the first time in 2 weeks on Monday and threw about 24 pitches from the set position.

Orix Buffaloes

...The Buffaloes announced that Tuffy Rhodes will not play out the rest of the season and will be returning to the US on the 6th.  The team is currently working on signing Rhodes to an extension for the 2010 season.

Rakuten Eagles

...Teppei is listed as day-to-day after he was hit by a pitch in his left calf in the 9th inning of Monday night's game against the Orix Buffaloes.

Seibu Lions

...Takumi Kuriyama was taken off the active roster on Monday after he was diagnosed with the swine flu virus.

Softbank Hawks

...Tsuyoshi Wada will likely make the start on the 11th against the Rakuten Eagles.  Toshiya Sugiuchi will likely be an option out of the pen.

Yomiuri Giants

...The Giants announced that they will be sending Takanobu Tsujiuchi (P), Toru Murata (P), and Masafumi Togano (P) out to various instructional leagues during the off-season.

Tsujiuchi and Murata will be heading out to Arizona for the instructional league that begins on the 13th.  Togano will be going to the Dominican Republic for the Winter League that begins over there on the 16th.
