The Hiroshima Carp relied on 3 home runs to beat the Bay Stars, 3-0.

Colby Lewis tossed scattered 6 hits over 7 shut-out innings and struck out 10 batters; he also recorded two 1-2-3 innings.  And while he did run into trouble a number of times (like a lead-off double into the 4th or runners on first and second and no out in the 7th), he either managed to get a  key double play or strike out to kill the momentum.

Yota Kosugi made his first start of his career and didn't have an awful game, out side of two home runs he gave up: lead-off homer to Scott McClain (1-for-4, HR, R, RBI) in the second and a 2-out homer to Kenta Kurihara (2-for-4, HR, R, RBI) in the third.  Take away the two home runs and Kosugi tossed 6 innings of 3-hit, 3-walk shut-out ball.

The third home run of the game was surrendered by Kazuya Takamiya in the top of the 7th to Colby Lewis (1-for-3, HR, R, RBI) of all players.

Katsuhiro Nagakawa entered the game in the bottom of the 9th for the Carp and struck out the first batter he faced.  He then walked two straight before striking out the next two batters for the final 2 outs of the game.

The Eagles managed to hold on and beat the Buffaloes, 6-3.

With Todd Linden (0-for-3, 2 BB, 2 R) on second and Toshiya Nakashima (2-for-4, 2B, R) on first in the top of the 2nd, Jin Nakatani (2-for-3, 2 RBI) and Yosuke Takasu (2-for-4, 2B, RBI) drove in runs with consecutive 2-out singles that gave the Eagles a 2-0 lead.  A sac fly into right by Nakatani with runners on second and third and 1 out in the fourth made it 3-0.

In the bottom of the 7th, the Buffaloes finally broke through against Masahiro Tanaka and tied the game at 3:

Takeshi Hidaka (2-for-4) grounded out. Koji Yamasaki (1-for-4) struck out. Tomotaka Sakaguchi (2-for-5, 3B, R) hit a triple.  Hiroyuki Oze (2-for-4, BB, R) walked, runners on first and third.  Hirotoshi Kitagawa (1-for-5, 2B, R, RBI) drove in a run with a double, runners on second and third.  Tuffy Rhodes (2-for-4, BB, 2B, 2 RBI) tied the game with a bases clearing single into right.  And Mitsutaka Goto (2-for-5) struck out to end the inning.

But the Eagles quickly recovered in the top of the 8th as the first three batters of the inning combined for 3 runs: Daisuke Kusano (1-for-4, BB, R) led off with single; Linden walked; and Fernando Seguignol (2-for-3, BB, HR, 2 R, 3 RBI) emphatically nailed his 14th home run of the year to give the Eagles a 6-3 lead.

The Buffaloes put runners on first and second in the bottom of the 8th on two consecutive 1-out singles, but neither K. Yamasaki nor Sakaguchi could collect a hit.  And in the bottom of the 9th, with Shinichiro Koyama on the mound with runners on first and third and 2 out, Naoyuki Ohmura (1-for-5) could do no better than ground out to second for the last out of the game.
