Around the NPB Horn: Tigers to pursue Tasuku Hashimoto during the offseason?

Hanshin Tigers

...The Tigers will be sending scouts to the Dominican Winter League to check on the talent.  The team is hoping to find an "outfield version of Aarom Baldiris" that bats righty.

...The Tigers continue to show interest in Tasuku Hashimoto.

Team president Nobuo Minami said, "That's something we'll talk about moving forward.  It isn't a yes or a no.  All I can say is that it can take time to grow a catcher.  And you also end up losing a player when you go after free agents, so you really need to make sure you know what you want. ... Based on general baseball theories, shortstop, catcher, second base...  I like players up the middle."

Seibu Lions

...Hisanobu Watanabe may have been given a 2-year extension, but the team wants him to manage as if it's a 1-year deal.

"B class?  The fans are disappointed.  We expect him to finish in first next year.  Short of that, at least an A class team.  We've told him to think of this as a 1-year deal," said team president Shinji Kobayashi.

Yokohama Bay Stars

...The Bay Stars may turn to the 12-team try-outs in November to find help for their pitching staff next season.
