Around the NPB Horn: Matsunaka to undergo knee surgeries; will misst out on post-season play

Hanshin Tigers
...Makoto Imaoka announced at a press conference earlier today that he intends to keep playing despite being released from the Tigers. Imaoka will try to find potential suitors in the NPB for next season and will even consider undergoing tryouts.
Said Imaoka, "If there is a club that's interested in me, I'm willing to listen. If not, I'm also willing to attend tryouts. I'll work hard in order to find a team that'll take me."
...Craig Brazell returned to the US on the 10th. There is still no word on whether or not the team will give Brazell an extension for the 2010 season. Brazell, however, would like to return.
Said Brazell, "I can see myself playing out the rest of my career with Hanshin."
...Sponichi wonder if breaking up the JFK trio by Akinobu Mayumi was the best thing for him to do. What do you folks think?
Nippon Ham Fighters
...Masataka Nashida on Yu Darvish:
"If he can't pitch, then there's not much we can do. We don't want to force him because we've already put so much pressure on him up to this point."
...The Fighters fell just short of 2M in attendance: 1,992,172.
Softbank Hawks
...Nobuhiko Matsunaka was taken off the active roster on Saturday and will undergo surgery on both of his knees. He will miss the post-season.
Said Matsunaka, "I really wanted to play in the Climax Series, but I couldn't make. I'll focus now on getting ready for the 2010 season."
Yakult Swallows
...Shinichi Takeuchi will undergo surgery on his left knee sometime this month. No word on recovery time.
Takeuchi hurt his left knee in a game against the Hanshin Tigers on 10/3 while playing defense.
