Yakult Swallows plan for a Public Viewing of the First Round falls through

by on Oct.12, 2009 @ 5:41 pm, under NPB

I have no idea how many Swallows' fans drop by this blog, but for those of you that read my note about the Swallows trying to set up a Public Viewing of the First Round of the Climax Series at Jingu Stadium might be disappointed to know that the idea fell through.

The reason?

Suzuki Tadashi, club president and acting owner, put down the idea because it wouldn't turn a profit.

Well, with the recession still not completely recovered from, and the advertising budgets not what they used to be, this makes perfect sense. Considering the costs to put on such an event, which they would probably do for free admission, the only possible return would be in advertising – and I don’t think such a viewing would generate that much yogurt sales.
