    Looking at the raw numbers:

    – +157 run differential
    – 46 more home runs than the next best team
    – batting avg. is 16 pts higher than everyone else
    – only team with an ERA under 3.00

The Giants should steamroll to the Japan Series.
They are far away the best team. It would take a whole lot of luck for any other team to beat them.

They are quite the power house. They’re the only team in the NPB to have three players with 30+ homers in the line-up (Ogasawara, Ramirez, and Abe). And the Dragons the Giants are the only team in the NPB to field two players with over 100 RBI (Blanco and Morino; Ogasawara and Ramirez).

That said, I’m not entirely sold on their bullpen and rotation.

And I don’t know that you can ignore what the Dragons have done this year as well. If the Dragons make it past the Swallows, it should be a very interesting second round.

Gen, you’re right. I shouldn’t dismiss the Dragons so easily. But if they do get past the first round, they will have a disadvantage with all the games at the Tokyo Dome and the Giants have a +1 win advantage.

Granted, it happened before in 2007 when the Dragons beat the Giants and Chunichi does have a terrific manager. I just feel the Giants are just too strong.
