Jingu | Attendance: 18,245 | Time: 2h 46m | Giants lead series, 18-5-1

The Swallows came back to beat the Giants in the last scheduled regular season game of the Central League in 2009, 5-3.

With runners on first and third and 1 out, Jamie D'Antona (0-for-3, BB, RBI) drove in the first run of the game on a ground out to second.  But the Giants quickly tied the game on Shinnosuke Abe's (1-for-4, HR, R, RBI) 32nd home run of the year to open the 2nd.

In the top of the third, the Giants loaded the bases on three consecutive singles to start the inning: Tetsuya Tetsuya ">Utsumi (1-for-2, R, RBI), Hayato Sakamoto (1-for-4, R), and Tetsuya Matsumoto (2-for-3).  Michihiro Ogasawara followed with a grounder to first that D'Antona fielded and tried to toss to Yoshinori covering first.  But the throw sailed high and the ball got past Yoshinori.  By the time the dust settled, Utsumi and Sakamoto had crossed the plate and the Giants had a 3-1 lead.  With runners left on first and third and still no out,  Yoshinori managed to strike out the next three batters in a row to end the inning without allowing any more damage.

Aaron Guiel's (1-for-2, HR, R, RBI) 27th home run of the year to start the 4th pulled the Swallows with within a run of tying the game.  And in the bottom of the 8th, the Swallows managed to take the lead:

Daisuke Ochi relieved Tetsuya Yamaguchi.  Munehiro Shida (1-for-4) struck out.  Noriyuki Shiroishi (1-for-1, 2B, R) hit a pinch hit double.  D'Antona walked and put runners on first and second.  Yuichi (0-for-2) flew out to right.  Atsushi Kinugawa (1-for-1, R, RBI) tied the game with a pinch hit single into right, runners on first and second.  Kazuki Fukuchi pinch ran for D'Antona.  Ryo Yoshimoto (1-for-4, 2B, 2 RBI) cleared the bases with a double into left to give the Swallows a 5-3 lead.  Norihito Kaneto relieved Ochi.  Yuji Onizaki (1-for-4) grounded out to third to end the inning.

Hye-Chun Lee took the mound for the Swallows in the top of the 9th and tossed a perfect inning to pick up first save of the year.
