According to Sponichi, Hiroyuki Kobayashi will be sticking with the Chiba Lotte Marines this season.
Kobayashi is set to earn his international FA option next year and will likely try to exercise it next season. That could mean a 1-year deal for the righty.
"I love Lotte so I'm thinking about staying. I'm also not thinking about posting either," said Kobayashi. "I'd like to try for the Majors as soon as possible."
If Kobayashi does indeed stay with the Marines for another season, there is a chance he could be closing out games for Lotte next season. "I'd like to be a starter in the Majors, but if they need me to close, I'll do it," said Kobayashi. He has also expressed interest in learning how to throw to shuto from the new pitching coach Takashi Nishimoto to expand his repertoire of pitches.
