by on Oct.15, 2009 @ 8:28 am, under High School

Yomiuri Online has published all 8 of the teams that will be meeting with Yusei Kikuchi.  They are (in no particular order):

  1. Los Angeles Dodgers
  2. Boston Red Sox
  3. Texas Rangers
  4. San Francisco Giants
  5. Seattle Marines
  6. New York Mets
  7. New York Yankees
  8. Cleveland Indians

The article goes on to mention that Kikuchi will be in attendance at all meetings.

It will be interesting what kind of questions the Kikuchi camp has for the MLB teams.

After all, MLB clubs like to baby their young pitchers.
Some teams (Dodgers, Red Sox) do a better job developing their pitchers than others (Yankees, unfortunately come to mind).

I wonder if Kikuchi does select a MLB team, would he want to deal with the pampering, considering the workload he is used to in Japan.

If a veteran like Dice-K complains about how Boston treats him, will it work for a youngster like Kikuchi?

I think the jury is still out on the Yankees. Joba and Phillips still have a chance to improve their record with young players. And Kennedy is slowly making his way back.

As for the pampering… He’s a lot younger than Matsuzaka was when he went to the States and that means he’ll probably have an easier time adjusting to new workload schedules.

And while I don’t know this for certain, AFAIK, Tazawa didn’t have any major problems with his work load this year.
