Chiba Lotte Marines

...The Marines announced on Thursday that the former BC League Ishikawa Million Stars manager Eiji Kanamori will be the team's new Ichi-gun batting and chief player coach.  The team has assigned him the number 75.

...In an effort to try and keep things like and fun, Norifumi Nishimura is thinking about holding team meetings at an Izakaya (Japanese bar/ pub) over the next month as the team begins to map out the new direction it intends on taking.

...For the first time in 7 years, pitchers will be joining the Fall training session.  Some pitchers might throw up to 200 pitches in a day and each pitcher is likely expected to throw around 3,000 pitches each.

Hanshin Tigers

...The Tigers announced that Ni-gun pitching coach Nobuyuki Hoshino will be leaving the club.  The club said that they will not offer Ni-gun developmental coach Yasuo Kato a contract extension.

...Kenta Abe will be heading off to the Arizona Fall League some time later this month.  He will meet up with Ken Nishimura, who is already over there.

...The Tigers hinted that they may hold a press conference later today to announce Atsushi Kataoka as the team's new batting coach.  The team is also expected to make official announcements for the other new coaches as well.

Hirsohima Carp

...The Carp held a press conference on Thursday to announce the appointment of Yutaka Ohno as the team's new head coach.  He was assigned the number 74.

Ohno's contract is said to be for one year at 25M yen.

Orix Buffaloes

...The Buffaloes announced that they will not be offering contract extensions to the following three coaches:

Tairu Sumitomo, head coach
Motoyuki Akahori, pitching coach
Osamu Sasaki, Ni-gun pitching coach

The club also said that Toshifumi Baba will be leaving the club.

Rakuten Eagles

...The Eagles have offered Chunichi Kanto / Tokai region scout Toru Nimura a contract to become their next Ni-gun managerMasanori Matsui, current Ni-gun manager and also someone that worked under Nomura, will not be returning to the club next season.

Seibu Lions

...The Lions started up their Fall training sessions on Thursday.

Hisanobu Watanabe is planning to be with the team for the Fall training camp that begin in November.

Watanabe will also be holding 1-to-1 meeting with all the players to get a better feel for where everyone stands.

Yokohama Bay Stars

...The Bay Stars would like to build their team around Shuichi Murata and Seiichi Uchikawa and will work towards putting together a team that will make them want to stay in Yokohama.


...Masahide Kobayashi is drawing interest from the Hanshin Tigers, Yomiuri Giants, and Chiba Lotte Marines, as well as a number of other teams.
