Around the NPB Horn: Marines have idea to invite Greg Maddux as guest instructor for Spring Camp?

Chiba Lotte Marines

...The Marines are thinking about extending an invitation to Greg Maddux to be temporary guest instructor during their Spring camp in Okinawa.

The same article linked to above also mentions that new manager Norifumi Nishimura will leave his office door open to all players, allowing them to enter whenever they want to.

Hanshin Tigers

...The Tigers will likely announce the release of Kevin Mench at some point in the near future.

...Yuya Ando and Shinobu Fukuhara will be attending the Fall camp that begins on 10/29.

...The Tigers will try to get their 2008 first round draft pick Sho Ikketsu to work in a a new palm ball that Ni-gun pitching coach Kiyooki Nakanishi recently taught him.  The team hopes that Ikketsu will be able to use the new pitch to change speeds and keep batters off balance better.

Hiroshima Carp

...Carp manager Kenjiro Nomura worked with Kenta Kurihara at third base for 25 minutes.

Nippon Ham Fighters

...A library Yu Darvish's home town Habikino City in Osaka, decided it would open a Yu Darvish Wing at some point during the off-season.

According to city officials, the new wing will cost about 2M yen and will be home to a collection of sports' books geared towards both children and adults.  The library also hopes to have Darvish on hand for the opening of the new wing.

The city will likely use some of the money that Darvish has been donating to the city to fund the new wing.

Seibu Lions

...Kazuhisa Ishii sign a 1-year extension with the Lions.

Ishii had actually considered retirement after the season but decided to return since he had "nothing better to do" next year.

Yakult Swallows

...Noriyuki Shiroishi will be returning to the team as a Ni-gun coach.

The same article also mentions that Aaron Guiel and Jamie D'Antona will likely return to the Swallows next season.

...Current players with the flu: Hiromitsu Takagi, Yuki Tanaka, Ryohei Kawamoto, Atsushi Kinugawa, and Yoshiyuki Noguchi.  One of the team trainers also has the flu.

Kenichi Matsuoka checked in with a fever prior to the game and wasn't available to play.

Yokohama Bay Stars

...Bay Stars owner Kiyoshi Wakabayashi said that he'd be more than happy to meet with Shuichi Murata and Seiichi Uchikawa if they wanted to talk to him.
