Lions interested in Rhodes if things don’t work out with Buffaloes

The Orix Buffaloes are still in the process of trying to work out a new deal with Tuffy Rhodes.  But if that doesn't work out, the Seibu Lions might be more than happy to swoop in.

"If he desn't return to the Buffaloes...  Rhodes' is a great player.  He's hit us pretty hard, I think he's still capable of playing," said a team rep.

The Lions feel that Rhodes could bring some balance to a line-up that has more power (right-handed hitters Takeya Nakamura, Hiroyuki Nakajima, and G.G. Sato accounted for 95 of the team's 163 home runs; Takumi Kuriyama led all left-handed Lions' hitters with 12 home runs) from the right side of the plate than the left.
