2009 Draft News and Notes: Lions preparing offer for Kikuchi

...The Lions are planning on offering Yusei Kikuchi a contract worth 15M yen, plus a signing bonus of 100M yen and a regular bonus of 50M yen.  The team is also going to ask Kikuchi which number he would like (12, 17, and 19).

...The Lions had a scout standing by at Shin Hanamaki Station and was immediately called on to visit Kikuchi and present him with a Lions' cap as soon as the pick was confirmed.

...The Giants drafted three catchers because they're trying to find a player to groom to replace Shinnosuke Abe and they want to make sure the next catcher-to-be has enough competition to prove himself.

...Tatsunori Hara met with Hisayoshi Chono after the draft and presented him with a uniform with the number 7 and CHONO on the back.

...Yoshitomo Tsutsugo wants you to call him "Godzilla of the Bay."  It seems the team is mulling over what Tsutsugo's uniform number will be next season.  Right now, both the number 51 and 55 are being considered.

...Akinobu Mayumi met with Kazuhito Futagami as soon as the draft was over.
