Hanshin Tigers

...Newly appointed batting coach Atsushi Kataoka will be taking a hand-ons approach to helping hitters that need help.

"Each player has their own swing so it'll be important for me to get in there with them so I can see what they're thinking," said Kataoka.

In working with Yuya Nohara on the 29th, Kataoka spent time explaining how important the lower half of the body was in hitting.  Nohara then spent some time the following day hitting soft toss while standing on one leg.

Nippon Ham Fighters

...Naoki Miyanishi and Shota Ono attended a tree-planting ceremony (Japanese Ash) at Sapporo Dome prior to practice today.

Orix Buffaloes

...Newly appointed batting coach Kozo Shoda plans to work the hitters and was quoted as saying, "Batters can do nothing but swing the bat.  I will teach with complete severity."

He added, "There's no need for rest during Spring camp.  I think we need to do at least this much to get things moving in the right direction."

Yakult Swallows

...Fall practice began today at the Jingu indoor practice facilities for the younger players (13 pitchers and 15 position players) on the roster.  Yuhei Takai continues to work on his position switch.

Fall camp begins on November 4th and will run until the 20th in Matsuyama.  28 players will take part in Fall camp.

Yomiuri Giants

...The Giants announced earlier today that they released Ikusei players Yi-Hao Lin (P), Ryosuke Ohnuki (P), and Kosuke Sato (C).

...In a Sponichi  article dated 10/25/2009, Giants' club rep Hidetoshi Kiyotaki said he was concerned about how amateur players aren't allowed to talk to NPB teams they might be interested in but can talk to any foreign club that interests them without penalty.

Kiyotaki is suggesting that the MLB and NPB get on the same page and work out a set of rules that both sides can agree on.
