Deanna mentioned something about the possibility that the Nagasaki Saints might bow out of the IL next season as well and so I went out and did a search to see what I could find.
According to the last published news report on the Saints, it appears as though they intend to be a part of the IL in 2010. The team did end the year 14M yen in the red, but the team was able to secure funding that should allow them to get by next season.
Said team owner Tetsuro Jitozo, "There were a lot of people that wanted us to keep going. There are still some problems with funding, but I want to keep the fires for the Kyushu Independent baseball league burning and will take the plunge for the next season."
The article also mentions that it takes about 100M yen to run the Saints and that the team was only able to secure 10M from sponsors and 1M yen from the league this season (the rest was covered by donations and ticket / merchandising sales).
The Saint were first half champions this past season.
