Chunichi Dragons

...Heads up!  Daisuke Yamai's car was hit by a batted ball that probably should have been stopped by a net, but with Nagoya Stadium under construction, the electronic netting was turned off, and therefore lowered.  The car suffered a dented hood.

Hanshin Tigers

...Hiroki Uemoto, Yamato, Masashi Nohara, and Kohei Shibata worked on their bunting skills on their day off yesterday for about 40 minutes.

...Atsushi Fujimoto still does not know what he's going to do with his FA option.

"I still haven't spoken to the club.  I'm not trying to drag this this out, I just don't have anything new to add.  I still have practice so I just want to focus on that right now," said Fujimoto.

...Tomoyuki Kubota is working on pitching to the inside portion of the plate during Fall camp.

...Gamakatsu is thinking about asking Kenji Johjima to become a spokesperson for their line of fishing products.

"We still haven't spoke to Johjima yet and we don't really have a set plan in place yet, but were were thinking about asking him to appear in commercials and fishing events as a spokesperson for our products," said a PR rep from Gamakatsu.

Hiroshima Carp

...Tomohiro Abe and batting pitcher Inoue, who was working as a second base ump, collided on a play during a practice game and had to be taken off the field on stretchers.  Both were taken to hospitals and checked.  Neither suffered any injuries.

Orix Buffaloes

...Akinobu Okada brought along a golf swing speed radar to check on how fast players were swinging their bats.

...Batting coach Kozo Shoda on working with Osamu Hamanaka:

"I'm  going to have Hamanaka working on hitting drills every day during camp.  He needs to rebuild his body.  He also told me that he won't be taking any breaks during Spring camp.  I'll bring him back to his old self."

Seibu Lions

...Yasuyuki Kataoka showed off his legs running the 20m dash in 2.83 seconds.  Overall, he ran five 20m dashes and recorded three under 3 seconds.

Softbank Hawks

...Tsuyoshi Wada is working his way back from a season in which he's battled left elbow problems.  It seems he's also taken some hints from Yu Darvish's performance against the Yomiuri Giants.

Said Wada, "I think I'm getting a hang of my breaking pitches.  I want to work on increasing my accuracy with then. ... It would be nice if I had a pitch like that to turn to when my fastball isn't there."

Yakult Swallows

...Yoshinori is working on his set position.  Interestingly enough, Sponichi is saying that he's modeling it after Hideaki Wakui while Sanspo is saying he's modeling it after Yu Darvish.

Yomiuri Giants

...Hiroshi Kisanuki is trying to learn some Spanish.  He picked up a book on Spanish last season when he participated in the Dominican Winter Leagues and has been studying every since.


...The Seibu Lions and the Hiroshima Carp will play a practice game on November 11th.  Pete LaForest will likely make an appearance in the game.

...The Japan Baseball Hall of Fame Museum has decided to name Shigeo Nagashima and Isao Harimoto to their Special Awards Committee.

The Special Awards Committee is made up of 14 judges -- 4 connected to the pro league, 4 connected to the amateur league, and 6 connected to the college leagues.

...Eagles' chief scout Toshiyuki Mimura passed away earlier today.  He was 61.

Mimura was a member of the Hiroshima Carp between 1967 and 1983.  He coached and managed the Carp between 1984-1998 and 2004-2005 before joining the Eagles in 2007 as chief scout.
