Hanshin Tigers

...visited 4th round draft pick Takumi Akiyama on Monday.

Akiyama told the Tigers that he's interested in being a starter.

Said Akiyama, "I want to have a long baseball career as a starter.  And if I'm going to be a starter, I want to reach double-digit wins.  I want to become a pitcher that can pitch into the 7th."

Seibu Lions

...The Lions will likely start Yusei Kikuchi at Ichi-gun during Spring camp.

It'll be the first time that a pitcher straight out of high school joined the team for Ichi-gun Spring camp since Hideaki Wakui did it 5 years ago.

"He's a pitcher that has good stuff so it'll be hard to start him at Ni-gun.  Unless he does something to drastically change my mind, I plan to bring him along with me to Ichi-gun," said manager Hisanobu Watanabe.

Yokohama Bay Stars

...The Bay Stars have assigned Yoshitomo Tsutsugo the number 55.

Said Tsutugo, "I'm not at the same level as Matsui, but I'll do my best to chase after him."

The number 55 is well known for being Hideki Matsui's number while he was with Yomiuri Giants.
