Around the NPB Horn: Morimoto, Nioka, and Kaneko to stay put?

...Nikkan Sports is reporting that Hichori Morimoto, Tomohiro Nioka, and Makoto Kaneko will likely not exercise their FA options.

...The team took the entire day off today.  Since Ni-gun Fall practice begins tomorrow at Kamagaya, some of the younger players flew into Haneda Airport today.

Yomiuri Giants

...Hisanori Takahashi would like to stay with the Giants, but would be open to trying out the Majors.

"I have an attachment to this team and I'd love to keep playing here. ... I've also held back on a number of things over the years.  I hope that take that into consideration [when we begin our negotiations].  I hope that the Giants value me as highly as I think they will," said Takahashi.

He later added, "When I watch Matsui...  Of course I have dreams of playing in the Majors."

...The Giants announced that Yushi Aida is retiring and will be returning to the team as a Ni-gun training coach.

The team also announced that they released Yuki Takeshima (P) and Takahiro Ijuin (C).

...The Giants flew back into Haneda Airport today.

After the celebrations ended on the 7th, Tatsunori Hara stayed up answering questions from the media until 2am the follow on the 8th.

The Giants will now prepare for the Japan - Korea Championships against KIA of the KBO on 11/14 at Nagasaki.
