It seems the Hanshin Tigers have given up on Hideki Matsui.
Prior to the Yanks winning the World Series and Matsui winning his MVP award, there were some grumblings in the NPB about the possibility of Matsui returning to Japan after the MLB season. All that appears to have changed now, at least with the Tigers.
"His first priority is the Majors," said Tigers' GM Shoji Numasawa.
Team owner, Shinya Sakai added, "There's absolutely no chance."
The Tigers' recent signing of Kenji Johjima may also be a factor in the decision.
