231 players, between the ages of 16 and 46, gathered at Naruohama Stadium on Saturday to tryout for the Japan Future League.
The breakdown was apparently 80 pitchers and 151 position players.
The first round of tests included throwing in the bullpen and batting practice. 23 pitchers and 34 position players made the first round cut. The second round of tests entailed fielding practice at the players' respective positions.
A list of players that made the final cut will be released sometime on or after the 19th.
=== UPDATE 8:06PM JST
One female player apparently showed up at the tryouts: 25-year-old Maho Tatsubo (田坪真帆).
Unfortunately, she didn't make it past the first round of cuts.
What would have been really interesting is if she made the cut and then Eri Yoshida joined the league...
=== UPDATE 11/15/2009 3:06 PM JST
Eri Yoshida's older brother was also at the tryouts on Saturday. He is in the group of pitchers that made it into he second round.
