The Front Office: Lions also interested in Sledge, Buffaloes waiting on Rhodes

by on Nov.15, 2009 @ 2:57 pm, under NPB

Hanshin Tigers

...The Tigers are currently looking at a number of position players from the November 11th tryouts.  Some of the players under consideration:

former Eagles' infielder Hisanori Nishitani
former Dragons' outfielder Koji Nakamura
former Fighters' outfielder Yohei Kaneko

Hiroshima Carp

...The following four foreigners will not be returning to the Hiroshima Carp next season:

Andy Phillips (INF)
Scott Seabol (INF)
Scott McClain (INF)
Ben Kozlowski (P)

Kind of sad to see Phillips go...

Orix Buffaloes

...The Buffaloes are preparing for a drawn out process with Tuffy Rhodes that could have no resolution until early next year.

Said Orix GM Murayama, "We've already submitted an offer to his agent.  We feel the offer we provided is good enough for a player like him.  There is no expiration on the offer.  We don't mind if this spills over into the new year."

The Buffaloes apparently submitted an offer worth 250M yen (down 70M yen).

Seibu Lions

...Add the Seibu Lions to the list of teams interested in Terrmel Sledge.  The Lions are also looking into Tuffy Rhodes as well.

Other teams interested in Sledge include the Yokohama Bay Stars and Softbank Hawks.
