According to Sponichi, the Angels could begin a strong push to sign Hideki Matsui.
"We'll be using Hunter, Abreu, and Rivera in the outfield [next season]. But Rivera only played about 120 games in left field this past season. And we'll continue to give him days off moving forward and that's where Matsui could get a chance to play the outfield," said Angels' GM Tony Reagins.
He continued, "We'll obviously want to keep an eye on his knees, and we'd make sure we'd keep him at about 20-40 starts. The important thing would be to have him in the line-up for every game."
If Vladmir Guerrero walks, Sponich figures that the Angels can take the money they save and put it towards Matsui.
