Around the NPB Horn: Aoki begins rehab workouts

Chiba Lotte Marines

...Of their 9 players that had FA options, 2 left the team: one left via trade (Naoyuki Shimizu) and one opted for free agency (Tasuku Hashimoto).

...Between Monday and Tuesday, the Marines re-signed a total 31 players.

Hanshin Tigers

...Minoru Iwata will be working out with Softbank Hawk Toshiya Sugiuchi during the off-season.

Orix Buffaloes

...Akinobu Okada is trying to find a new nickname for Takahiro Okada (he thinks there are too many Okada's).

Seibu Lions

...The Lions would like to give Akira Eto a final send-off at Fan Appreciation Day (11/23).  Eto retired after the season this year and joined the Giants staff as a developmental coach.

Yakult Swallows

...Norichika Aoki started up his rehab workouts on Tuesday, which included walking and working on his balance.

Yomiuri Giants

...Seung-Yeop Lee plans on starting his workouts a little early this year.

"I'm thinking about starting a running program in December.  I'm also thinking about swinging the bat as well," said Lee.  "If I don't put up the numbers next season, I think I'll be released by the team.  The Giants are a great team and I'd like to keep playing for them."

...Wirfin Obispo apparently got hitched and will be bringing his wife over to Japan next season.
