Around the NPB Horn: 20 internationals games?

by on Nov.20, 2009 @ 2:45 am, under NPB

Hanshin Tigers

...The Tigers held their last meeting of the year on Thursday.

...The executive committee figures that 20 international games could bring in 1B to 2B yen in sales.  It was also suggested that games could be played in February, March, July, and November.

If the plan gains traction, it could mean the start of international games as early as next fall.

But there are plenty of questions that still need to be answered, like who would manage the team, would the JPBPA agree, and would it hurt the NPB regular season.

And to clarify, these international games would be played by a team full of individual players selected from various teams.

...The Pacific League announced that there was a problem with one of the ballots: a vote was made for Yasuyuki Kataoka at short but since he never played a single game at short this year and the entire ballot was canceled.

Would these Japanese national team games, or NPB clubs playing teams from outside of Japan? I think that national team exhibitions would be something that is good for all of baseball if they occur.

I’m not really sure where the games would actually take place, and against which countries, but yes, based on my understanding, the national team would be playing games against teams outside of Japan.
