Chunichi Dragons

...Yoshihiro Suzuki is working on picking up a curve during the off-season.  He tossed 10 of them in a bullpen session on Thursday.

"My slider has been dropping a little less lately.  That's why I decided to learn the curve, so that I can throw something with a different look, a pitch that has a big break," said Suzuki.

The change in movement with his slider apparently has something to do with the slight modifications he's been making to his delivery.

Hanshin Tigers

...Shinjiro Hiyama was awarded the 2009 Miki House - Sanspo MVP Award.

The award was presented to Hiyama at a fan meet & greet (100 fans) on Friday.  Atsushi Noumi and Yasutomo Kubo were also on hand.  Noumi was given an honorable mention.

Hiyama also received a cash prize of 1M yen; Noumi received 200,000yen.

...The Tigers said that they didn't go strong after Juan Morillo because they thought he'd cost too much.

...Both Hiroki Uemoto and Takuya Takahama will be undergoing Lasik surgery during the off-season.

Nippon Ham Fighters

...Atsunori Inaba is ready to be the team captain again next season if Masataka Nashida asks him again.

Orix Buffaloes

...Akinobu Okada and his coaches got together on Thursday and selected 23 pitchers and 23 position players they feel deserve to be on the Ichi-gun roster.  These 46 players will now be invited to the start of Spring camp in February and be expected to compete against one another for starting jobs, right from the start.

...Today was the last day of Fall practice.

Softbank Hawks

...Nobuhiro Matsuda appeared worried when asked about newly acquired Bum-Ho Lee.  The two could compete for the starting third base job next season.

Yomiuri Giants

...The Giants re-signed Wirfin Obispo to a contract worth 20M yen (up from 4.8M yen).
