Around the NPB Horn: Hawks’ newest player rep is Kawasaki

Chunichi Dragons

...The Dragons offered Atsushi Fujii a contract worth 32M yen.  Fujii put the contract on hold -- he was hoping for at least 40M.

Nippon Ham Fighters

...Shugo Fujii made an appearance at Fan Appreciation Day on Saturday.

"The fans didn't boo me.  I'm glad I came," said Fujii.

He also added, "I'm used to starting, but I also wouldn't mind relieving.  I don't really want to think about money figures until after I've been contacted by some teams."

Rakuten Eagles

...Marty Brown returned to the US on Saturday.  Brown hopes his players will show him more of what they're capable of doing during Spring camp.  He's also taking a bunch of footage and player data back to the US to help him get a better feel for his new players.

Softbank Hawks

...Munenori Kawasaki is the team's new player rep.

Yakult Swallows

...About 300 fans showed up for the dinner talk show on Satuday night featuring Norichika Aoki and Tomohiro Kuroki.

Aoki mentioned during the talk show that if he can stay healthy, he'd like to keep playing until he turn 40 or 50.  He also said that he was looking forward to participating in the 2013 WBC.

Yomiuri Giants

...Michihiro Ogaswara will likely spend the rest of the year catching up on rest and relaxation.


...The Golden Players Club (Meikyukai) will likely select Sadaharu Oh to be their next chairman.  Oh is currently the GPC's Vice Chairman.
