It appears there are talks underway about the possibility of having a Pro vs. College All-Stars game some time next year in July.
The IBAF World University Baseball Championship will be taking place at Jingu Stadium next year, beginning on July 30th. The Japan Student Baseball Association would like to try and set-up a match or two against the Pros to help the college players prepare for the Championships.
With the NPB All-Star break taking place between July 22nd and 26th next year, there's a possibility that a game could be scheduled.
And some quick news and notes from yesterday's U-26 vs College All-Stars game:
...Senichi Hoshino wasn't happy about Masahiro Tanaka skipping out of the game. He also offered his comments on Sho Nakata's base running blunders.
"I'm pretty upset Tanaka isn't playing today. The Commissioner should have said something to him. This is about working together as a baseball community," said Hoshino on Tanaka.
As for his thoughts on Tanaka, "That's an embarrassing mistake to make as a pro. Becoming a regular isn't just about hitting, but also fielding and base running. It's also embarrassing for the Nippon Ham manager and coaches."
...The radar gun flashed 157km/h on Yuki Saito's second pitch to Takahiro Arai. Nothing doing as it was quickly notched up as an error in the radar gun.
Incidentally, scouts from the Rays and Mets were on hand to watch Saito pitch.
