Hanshin Tigers

...The Tigers are hoping to get at least 20 home runs out of Kodai Sakurai next season.  The team feels he has enough power to hit anywhere between 20-30 home runs.

...Ginoza Municipal Stadium (the stadium the Tigers will be using during Spring camp) officials are planning on adding more netting along the foul lines in anticipation of Kenji Johjima fouling a bunch of balls off.

Hiroshima Carp

...Yoshiyuki Ishihara will be the new player rep for the Carp in 2010.  Vice player reps will be Katsuhiro Nagakawa, Akihiro Higashide, and Kenta Kurihara.

Nippon Ham Fighters

...Kazumasa Kikuchi's contract went from 7.7M yen to 35M yen, an increase of 355%.  That's more than the 300% increase Makoto Kaneko saw in 1996 when his contract went from 7M yen to 28M yen.

Kikuchi's 355% increase establishes a new club high.

...After about 2 hours of negotiations, Naoki Miyanishi put a 38M yen offer on hold.  Miyanishi was hoping to get at least 40M yen.

...Yu Darvish memorabilia will be on display at LIC Habikino (located in Darvish's home town, Hakibino, Osaka) during the month of December.

Orix Buffaloes

...Takahiro Okada will be working on losing some weight during the off-season.  He ended the season at 106kg and will be working on shedding 11kg by Spring camp.

Rakuten Eagles

...Takeshi Yamasaki will be holding a "fan meeting" at Sendai Kokusai Hotel on 12/10.  The event will feature a buffet table and will include time for photos and a raffle for baseball memorabilia.

Tickets to the event cost 15,000yen a pop and include a autographed T-shirt.  More information about the event can be found here.

...Masahiro Tanaka will likely leave the player dorms to live on his own.  That would make him the first player in club history to move out of the player dorms afters only being with the team for three years (the Eagles usually keep players in the dorms for at least 4 years).

Yakult Swallows

...Shohei Tateyama will be adding weights to his training program during the off-season.

Yomiuri Giants

...6 TV cameras and about 50 reporters covered Shinnosuke Abe's press conference yesterday.

...Abe is also hoping to pass off the player rep position to Tetsuya Utsumi.  Abe is already the team captain and juggling both this past season was a bit too much work for him.

...Abe dropped by his old Urayasu elementary school on Wednesday and met with the school children for about 2 hours.

This is part of a program that involves Giants' players returning to their former schools to "give back" to the community.

...Shigetoshi Yamakita (P) and Naoya Okamoto (P) attended the 12-team tryouts at Jingu on Wednesday and drew interest from the Sinon Bulls of the CPBL.

...En-Yu Lin (P) was also at the tryouts -- he threw a combination of fastballs (topping out at 141km/h), sliders, and curves.
