Around the NPB Horn: Bay Stars may submit an offer to Sledge on the 2nd

Chunichi Dragons

...Takuya Asao, Daisuke Yamai, Tetsuya Tani, and Yuichi Hisamoto all returned from the Dominican Republic on the Monday (11/30).  Asao, Yamai, and Tani were participating in the Winter Leagues while Hisamoto was rehabbing.

...Junki Ito was a Tsushima City, Aichi police chief for a day on Monday.  Ito will be participating in about 10 more events between now and the end of the year.

Hiroshima Carp

...Assuming Kenta Kurihara is playing third next season, Kurihara will be shooting for a Golden Glove at that position as well.  Kurihara won the Golden Glove at first the last two seasons straight (2008, 2009).

...Kenjiro Nomura is hoping that Tomonori Maeda can start the season off at Ichi-gun Spring camp.

Nippon Ham Fighters

...Masataka Nashida said that he's leaning towards keeping Hisashi Takeda as the team closer next season.

Softbank Hawks

...The Hawks likely left Justin Germano off their list of protected players.  There was talk of Germano returning next season, but it appears as though he might be looking into returning to the Majors next season.

Yokohama Bay Stars

...The Bay Stars may submit an offer to the Terrmel Sledge camp as early as tomorrow.

Yomiuri Giants

...Kentaro Nishimura may be moved into the starting rotation next season.  To that end, Nishimura will be working on polishing up his curve and change during the winter.  He also plans on doing some training in Arizona during the off-season.

...At the suggestion of Tatsunori Hara, Tetsuya Utsumi is working on a new pitch: the cutter.  Utsumi currently throws a fastball in the 140km/h range and the slider and change in the 120km/h range.  The cutter will likely be in the 130km/h range and will allow Utsumi to give batters a different look.

Utsumi is also working on strengthening his lower body during the off-season.

...Takahiko Nomaguchi met with club officials on Monday, but did not did not get into any talks about a contract.  That will likely take place during their next meeting.
