Hideki Matsui to start fielding drills before the end of the year?

The World Series trophy will be on display at the MLB Cafe Tokyo between the 3rd and the 13th.  I've been meaning to drop by there.  Maybe this gives me a good excuse to go.

Hideki Matsui had his knees checked out on the 30th and depending on the results, he may be able to start preparing for a season in which he plays some games in the outfield.  He'll likely starting things slow but will shoot for some running and fielding practice before the end of the year.

And of course, Jon Heyman (SI.com) is now reporting that the Yanks will decline arbitration on all their free agents.

Koji Uehara returned to Japan on the 1st.  When asked how his elbow was feeling, he replied, "I haven't played any catch yet so I don't really know.  The club has told me to rest."
