Hideki Matsui and Koji Uehara; Hiroyuki Kobayashi to try for Majors after 2010 season?

The Yanks finished their organizational meetings and will now start making off-season moves.  According to Buster Olney, it would seem as though the Yanks will be trying to cut back on their payroll.  That might not be a good thing for Hideki Matsui.

A Sponichi article is hoping that George Steinbrenner might somehow nudge the Yanks into re-signing Matsui.  There's also a Sponichi article titled, "Mariners - if they get Figgins, no more Matsui."

Koji Uehara visited a hospital in Osaka to get his right elbow and left thigh checked out.  A blog post on his site reveals that the tests came back negative.  He's currently looking forward to be able to play some catch again.

Kenshin Kawakami was happy to hear that Takashi Saito is also joining the Braves.

"I'm very happy.  I was a little worried / anxious about playing [in Atlanta] this past season, but I feel much stronger knowing that another Japanese player that I know well will be playing for the team as well," said Kawakami.  "I plan on asking him for some advice.  It will be nice to be on the same team."

And finally, as mentioned yesterday, Hiroyuki Kobayashi may decide to try for the Majors next season depending on how his 2010 season goes.

"My feelings of wanting to go the Majors remain unchanged.  But, I first need to put up some results next season," said Kobayashi.

Kobayashi is set to earn his international FA option during the 2010 season.
