More teams appear to be gaining interest in Ryota Igarashi

by on Dec.11, 2009 @ 12:03 pm, under MLB, NPB

The Yanks appear to be interested in Ryota Igarashi after trading Brian Bruney away to the Nationals on 12/7.  The Pittsburgh Pirates, San Francisco Giants, and Baltimore Orioles are also rumored to be interested in Igarashi.  And it seems his agent is looking for a 2-year deal wroth about US$2M-3M.

The Mets also appear to be interested in Igarashi after Omar Minaya asked Bobby V for more information on the former Swallow.

Another article mentions the Diamondbacks and Padres being interested in Igarashi, as well as Hisanori Takahashi.

And the Japanese newspapers appear to be at odds on Hideki Matsui information.  On the morning news, they introduced three stories on Matsui from three different papers.  Nikkan Sports mentioned the Yanks not having any more funds to spend on Matsui while Sanspo was reporting that the Angels were the front runners in nabbing him.  And third paper, can't remember which but it may have by Daily Sports, said that the Yanks may have offered Matsui a 1-year deal worth about 600M yen (or roughly half of what he made this past season).
