Around the NPB Horn: Marines sign former Yomiuri righty Bryan Corey

Chiba Lotte Marines

...The Marines announced that they signed former Yomiuri Giant Bryan Corey (a 36 year-old right-handed pitcher) to a 1-year deal worth about 27M yen ($300,000).  He has been assigned the number 33.

Hanshin Tigers

...Minoru Iwata is commuting to Koshien Stadium by bike during the off-season (weather permitting) as part of his training.  It's about a 15-minute ride away from his home.

...Seating capacity near the bullpen at the Tigers' Spring camp training stadium, Ginoza Municipal Baseball Stadium in Okinawa, will be expanded in case there are more fans that are interested in watching bullpen sessions involved Kenji Johjima.

Nippon Ham Fighters

...The Fighters are also planning to hold a farewell party during their trip to Hawaii for Naoto Inada and Yataro Sakamoto.  Both were traded to the Bay Stars but accompanied the team to Hawaii.

Orix Buffaloes

...There has been an increase of about 1,000 members for the Buffaloes' mobile site this year.

...Akinobu Okada admitted on an Asahi Broadcasting TV program on Thursday that So Taguchi dropped by his home and that the two spoke for about 3 hours on November 25th.  While no decisions have been made yet, the Buffaloes have begun to move forward in attempting to lure Taguchi to their team.

The Buffaloes are also thinking about offering the number 5 to So TaguchiKazuhiro Kiyohara wore the number 5 before he retired after the 2008 season.

Softbank Hawks

...Shuhei Fukuda and Hiroki Yamada holed themselves up in a mountain in Buzen City, Fukuoka for intensive training.

...Nagisa Arakaki is tweaking his delivery.  He's apparently taking a much larger stride towards home plate so that he can be "closer to the batter" when he releases the ball.
