...Katsuya Nomura received an award of praise (賛辞の楯) from Sendai City on Sunday.  He apparently almost turned down the award because he couldn't bring the Nippon Series to Sendai. He also once again reminded fans that the Eagles were lucky this past season and that they still need to make more improvements.

Nomura also met with Professor Ryuta Kawashima (known for his Nintendo DS Brain Trainer games) on Sunday at Tohoku University.  Prof. Kawashima is apparently impressed with the way Nomura uses his brain in reading players and using various data to break them down.

Yokohama Bay Stars

...Daisuke Miura held a Christmas Party on Sunday for 100 fans selected via drawing.

Yomiuri Giants

...Tetsuya Utsumi gained 2-kg (from 90 to 92-kg) and was told by Yoshinobu Takahashi that he looked like Chunichi Dragon Masahiro Yamamoto.

...Shun Tono was working out at the Kawasaki training grounds on Sunday.  He took a line drive off his right hand during the Nippon Series.  There's still some swelling, but his hand is doing much better now.  Tono is working on increasing his stamina during the off-season.

...Hayato Sakamoto and Noriyoshi Ohmichi were special guests at a Kasai West Division Little League clinic on Sunday.

...It has been close to 15 years since the Hanshin - Awaji earthquake.  An event to commemorate the reconstruction of the area was held on Sunday at Skymark Stadium, featuring a game between Kanbaro Kobe Dreams (roster full of players from Hyogo Prefecture) and 55 Challengers (roster full of players born in in 1980).
