...Tsuyoshi Nishioka will be working out with Nippon Ham Fighter Sho Nakata and Chunichi Dragon Ryosuke Hirata beginning on the 7th. The three are Osaka Toin high school graduates.
...Hiroki Uemoto is apparently working on changing the way he runs. Seems he swings his arms more than he actually needs to when he runs.
...JTB in Sasebo is planning on putting together some Koshien tour packages for Kenji Johjima fans.
Nippon Ham Fighters
...Tomoya Yagi once again shaved his prior to his first practice of the new year on Sunday.
Eiichi Koyano, Takayuki Takaguchi, and Yutaka Ohtsuka joined him for practice at Soka University.
...Ni-gun trainer Daisuke Sekiba is being promoted to Ichi-gun chief trainer. Sekiba has apparently played a fairly major role in helping Masahiro Tanaka and Hisahi Iwakuma over the last couple of seasons. He's also helped out other pitchers like Satoshi Nagai and Shinichiro Koyama with their training.
...Makoto Sato will be working on losing about 6-kg during the off-season (95-kg to 89-kg).
...Kazumi Saito held his first training session of 2010 on Sunday. He worked out for about 2 hours, focusing on strength training.
...Tu-Hsuan Lee aims to learn as much as possible from Chiba Lotte Marine Tadahito Iguchi when he begins training with him in Okinawa on the 5th.
...Masanori Ishikawa will be starting up his own mobile site. The name of the site will be "Katsuo Boy" and there will be a monthly access fee of 105 yen. Users with access to the site will be able to purchase limited edition merchandise and will have access to special content not available elsewhere.
...Shohei Tateyama headed out for Hawaii on Sunday. He plans on working on his lower body during the off-season.
...Ryohei Kawamoto plans on eating more vegetables during the off-season in order to lose about 5-kg by Spring camp (he's currently 89-kg and wants to drop down to 84-kg).
Yokohama Bay Stars
...Seiichi Uchikawa wants to spend more time helping the younger players out a bit more.
...Taishi Ohta has switched over to an Ogasawara model glove. The new glove is apparently bigger than what he was using last season.
Ohta also picked up some weight in December with a steady weight-training program: 85-kg to over 90-kg.
Both the new glove and the weight gain tie into Ohta's two goals for the upcoming season: improving his fielding and maintaining his weight over the season.
