Around the NPB Horn: Marines submit request for new turf at Chiba Marine Stadium

Chiba Lotte Marines

...Club president Ryuzo Setoyama and player rep Saburo dropped by the Chiba government offices on Monday to submit paperwork requesting the replacement of the turf at Chiba Marine Stadium.

Said Saburo, "Other clubs asked us about [replacing the turf].  It's an embarrassment to Chiba and it's an embarrassment to the club.  And that's we we're asking for this."

Hiroshima Carp

...Soichiro Amaya held his first practice session of 2010 on Monday.  He opened with some running, played some catch, and held a round of soft toss BP.

Rakuten Eagles

...Hisashi Iwakuma worked out for the first time in 2010 on Monday at Kleenex Stadium.  He did some stretching exercises before playing some light catch.  He said he practiced at only about 10%.

Seibu Lions

...About 300 fans showed up to see Takeya Nakamura, Takumi Kuriyama, and Takayuki Kishi for a fan event at Seibu Ikebukuro Department Store on Monday.

...The Lions announced that Ayumu Yamamoto will be returning to the club in 2010 as an assistant Ni-gun equipment manager.

Softbank Hawks

...Tsuyoshi Wada took off for Hawaii on Monday.  This will be his first time he trains on his own in Hawaii.

Yokohama Bay Stars

...Naoyuki Shimizu trained out in front of the public for the first time this year on Monday.  Shimizu had started his 2010 training on January 1st.
