Orix Buffaloes

...Akinobu Okada told reporters that both 1st round draft pick Shuichi Furukawa and 2nd round draft pick Motoki Higa will likely be invited to Ichi-gun Spring camp in February.  The two will take part in early mini-camp on the 12th.  If everything goes well during mini-camp, they will join the Ichi-gun roster for Spring camp.

Seibu Lions

...Yusei Kikuchi will not be moving into Daisuke Matsuzaka's old room at the Lions' player dorm.  Instead, he will be moving into the room formerly occupied by Fumikazu Kimura.

There was some talk about Kikuchi moving into Matsuzaka's old room, but it seems current occupier Yuta Nakazaki will be allowed to keep it for now.

...Hisanobu Watanabe issued a warning to Kikuchi not to overwork during the off-season.  He also plans on watching Kikuchi during the early mini-camp for rookies that's set to start on the 9th.

Yomiuri Giants

...2nd round draft Masato Kiyashiki moved into the player dorms in Kawasaki on Wednesday.  He moves into the room that was once occupied by players like Hideki Matsui and Hayato Sakamoto.

2010 Draft

...Tuesday was Waseda University's first day of practice in 2010.  Nine NPB clubs (Marines, Swallows, Giants, Tigers, Fighters, Eagles, Hawks, Lions, and Buffaloes) sent scouts to watch Yuki Saito, Tatsuya Ohishi, and Yuya Fukui.

Saito tossed about 30 pitches during a bullpen session in front of about 21 scouts.

Ohishi worked out in center field and also took some batting practice.  Ohishi told reporters that he wants to be prepared to do whatever it takes to win, even play some center on days he isn't pitching.

...Shinta Hifumi had his first practice of the year on Tuesday.  A number of clubs, including the Bay Stars, were on hand to watch.
