Yakult Swallows sign Tony Barnette to 1-year deal

The Yakult Swallows have set their sites on 26-year-old right-handed pitcher Tony Barnette.
Only two pitchers ended the 2009 season with double-digit wins. The Swallows feel Barnette can give the starting rotation a much needed boost.

The Swallows have signed Barnette to 1-year deal worth 50M yen ($500,000) plus incentives.

Sanspo is reporting that the contract is worth 37.2M yen ($400,000) plus incentives. It seems Barnette has also been assigned the number 64.
Barnette throws a fastball that tops out at 151km/h, a curve, slider, change, and sinker.
